Bitget · Global exchange · Oceania

$2 trillion left crypto.
We were still signing partners.

Luna erased $40 billion of value in three days in May 2022. Six months later FTX, the second largest exchange in the world, was bankrupt inside ten days with $8 billion of customer funds missing. Retail stopped trusting exchanges as a category. Bitget hired us to build its Australian partner and affiliate channel anyway.

The situation

05

Every competitor was on defence.

The two failures were industry defining. Every exchange was answering questions about where customer funds were held, and partner and marketing budgets were the first line cut across the category. Most platforms stopped spending in the region and waited for the market to come back.

The trading groups and KOLs who drive volume in Oceania were mid-decision about where to move their communities, and the platforms they were leaving were the reason.

What we built

A migration strategy, run while the market was frozen.

We onboarded the groups that were moving, structured their campaigns, and set the reporting so partner performance was visible weekly rather than at quarter end.

The partner base grew 40% in a period when the category was contracting. The groups signed represented billions in annual notional volume.
